1.3 Million Candidates Register for 2024 NECO SSCE: A New Record in Academic Excellence

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that over 1.3 million candidates have registered for the ongoing 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) internal exam. This news comes after the NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, visited various examination centers in Enugu, Enugu State, to monitor the exam. Prof. Wushishi expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the examination, noting that reports from across the country indicate a smooth and seamless exercise. He attributed this success to the various measures put in place to prevent examination malpractice, which has been on the decline due to innovations introduced by NECO. The Registrar encouraged candidates to work hard and strive for good grades, emphasizing that "there is no shortcut to success." He also disclosed that he has personally monitored the examination in several states, including Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Abia, Imo, and Anambra, and received positive feedback from stakeholders. Interestingly, the NECO examination is not only being held in Nigeria but also in other countries, including Togo, Benin Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Niger Republic, Cote d'Ivoire, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This expansion highlights the global recognition and acceptance of NECO certificates. The 2024 NECO SSCE commenced on June 19th and will conclude on July 25th, 2024. Candidates will sit for exams in 76 subjects, and NECO is committed to ensuring a hitch-free exercise. With the measures in place, candidates can focus on demonstrating their knowledge and skills, and NECO is confident that the examination will be a success.
