The Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) has revealed that a total of 12 persons lost their lives in road accidents across the state between May and June 2024. According to the state sector commander, Paul Okpe, the deaths were recorded in 31 accidents that occurred during the period.
Okpe disclosed that the month of May saw 12 fatalities, while June recorded four deaths. A total of 143 passengers were involved in the accidents, with 12 losing their lives and 53 sustaining injuries. The sector commander identified the causes of the crashes as route violation, brake failure, overspeeding, dangerous driving, and use of phone while driving, among others.
Okpe emphasized the importance of road safety and advised motorists to imbibe the safety culture on the road in order to stay alive. He urged drivers to be cautious and avoid reckless behavior that could lead to accidents and loss of lives. The FRSC
