The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Rufus John Isip, a self-acclaimed forex broker, and his company, ITM-IT Resources Limited, for an alleged N2 billion investment scam.
Isip was charged with fraudulent conversion, money laundering, and obtaining by false pretence.
The suspect allegedly defrauded investors, including Michael Okon, by promising them returns on investments in an online trading platform called (link unavailable) However, after collecting the funds, Isip disappeared, leaving the investors stranded.
Isip pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in EFCC custody by Justice C. S. Onah of the Federal High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The trial has been adjourned to October 14, 2024.
