Former South African goalkeeper Alex Heredia has expressed his doubts over Kaizer Chiefs' decision to sign Rwandan goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari. Heredia believes that the team should have opted for Chippa United's Stanley Nwabali instead, who had an impressive performance in the Premier Soccer League last season and also shone for Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Heredia's concerns stem from his observation of both goalkeepers, stating that Nwabali appears more solid and experienced. "For a goalkeeper to perform, he needs a good team, and vice versa," Heredia explained in an interview with Kick Off. "I've watched Nwabali play in the PSL and at the AFCON, and he's done exceptionally well. In my opinion, he would have been a more positive option for Kaizer Chiefs."
Heredia's comments suggest that Kaizer Chiefs may have missed out on a more talented and reliable goalkeeper in Nwabali, and that Ntwari may not be the best fit for the team. Only time will tell if Heredia's concerns are justified, but for now, the decision to sign Ntwari has raised eyebrows among football enthusiasts.
