The Federal Government has given assurance that all ongoing road projects, including those inherited from the previous administration and newly awarded ones, will be completed. Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, made this promise during an interactive session with the Senate Committee on Appropriations in Abuja. He emphasized that the government is committed to completing all road projects, and no project will be abandoned. Bagudu acknowledged the concerns of committee members about the fate of other deplorable roads and uncompleted projects in their constituencies. He assured that the Federal Executive Council will continue to consider and approve funding for other roads as funds become available. While he didn't provide a detailed breakdown of the supplementary approval, he gave an overview of the N3.2 trillion Renewed Hope Infrastructure Projects and the N3 trillion increase in the recurrent component of the budget. The minister noted that the government has underinvested in infrastructure development due to recent challenges, but commended President Bola Tinubu for his political will to address the infrastructure deficit. He assured that the projects, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, Sokoto-Badagry highway, and Trans-Sahara highway, will boost economic activities and revenue when completed. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Adeola, expressed confidence in the government's ability to finance the 2024 budget and requested a detailed breakdown of the N6.2 trillion approval.
