Lagos Police PRO Blasts Singer Ayo Maff for Glorifying Drug Use in New Song

Ayo Maff
Lagos State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has criticized rising singer Ayo Maff over his "indecent" lyrics in his new song 'Last Week'. The singer boasts about using Canadian Loud, a strong synthetic cannabis strain, on Mondays and running out of it by Saturdays. SP Hundeyin expressed concern about the lyrics, stating that half of the youths in prison wouldn't be there if they didn't indulge in drug abuse. He emphasized that illicit drugs are a precursor to crime, quoting Asa's song, "There is fire on the mountain and nobody seems to be on the run." He urged someone to help him listen to the song again, ending his statement with "Eni a wi fun…" (a Yoruba phrase meaning "Who are we to blame"). The police spokesperson's reaction came after a snippet of the song went viral on social media platform X. His comments highlight the concerns about the influence of drug culture in music and its potential impact on young people.
