Nigerian football star Ahmed Musa has strongly condemned the ill-treatment of the Super Eagles by Libyan authorities. Musa expressed his disappointment and outrage over the unjust treatment meted out to the team, officials, and dignitaries during their recent visit to Libya.
The 32-year-old captain called on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take swift and decisive action against the Libya Football Federation. Musa demanded a thorough investigation and strict measures to punish those responsible for the unacceptable behavior.
Musa took to social media platform X to voice his support for the team, saying: "I'm extremely disappointed by the unjust treatment of the Super Eagles, the NFF officials, as well as dignitaries in Libya. This is not sportsmanship, and I want the football governing body, @CAF_Online to intervene and investigate this incident. I stand with the players in this difficult time."
In response to the incident, the Super Eagles have withdrawn from their scheduled 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Libya, initially set for Tuesday. The team has already begun their journey back to Nigeria.
Musa's stance highlights the need for football governing bodies to ensure player safety and dignity are respected across all member nations.
