Gasperini Credits Teammates for Lookman's Ballon d'Or Nomination

Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini has highlighted the crucial role Ademola Lookman's teammates played in his 2024 Ballon d'Or nomination. Lookman, 27, has been exceptional since joining from RB Leipzig two years ago.

The winger has won Atalanta's Player of the Season award for two consecutive campaigns, cementing his status as one of La Dea's top stars. His breathtaking performance in the UEFA Europa League final earned him a spot among the Ballon d'Or

Gasperini emphasized that Lookman's achievement is a direct result of his teammates' support. "He knows he wouldn't be here without De Roon, Ederson, Djimsiti, and the entire squad supporting him," Gasperini stated in an interview with Gazetta dello Sport.

Although Lookman finished 14th in the final ranking, Gasperini's praise underscores the significance of his nomination. The manager's comments highlight the collective effort behind individual success.

Gasperini noted that Lookman's achievements might not have been possible in a different team context. "It's not guaranteed he would have achieved the same result if he were playing for a different team." This statement emphasizes the importance of teamwork and squad dynamics.

Lookman's success serves as a testament to Atalanta's cohesive unit and Gasperini's effective management. As the team continues to thrive, Lookman's talents will remain a vital component of their success.
